About pharmacology (Lecture 1)


Pharmacology


Derived : greek word= pharmakon (drug)+logos(study)

Definition:
Pharmacology can be defined as the study of substance that interect with living system through chemical process, especially by binding to regulatory molecules and activating or inhabiting normal body process.

  • Detecting drug hypersensitivity
  • Avoiding drug antagonism
  • Avoiding failure to drug response
  • Avoiding/ minimizing adverse effect
  • Avoiding unwanted synergistic effect
